Implicit memory is long-term memory that influences behavior without conscious recall, including procedural skills, priming, and conditioned responses. It contrasts with explicit memory, the deliberate recall of facts and events.
Implicit memory is the branch of long-term memory that operates without conscious awareness: it shapes what you do rather than what you can describe. Riding a bicycle, typing, and responding faster to a word you saw recently all draw on implicit memory, even though none requires deliberately "remembering" anything.
