Refractive errors are vision problems in which the eye fails to focus light precisely on the retina, producing blurred vision. The main types are myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, and presbyopia, all correctable with lenses.

Refractive errors occur when the eye's optical system — the cornea and lens — fails to focus incoming light exactly on the retina. Instead of a sharp image, the retina receives a blurred one.
